Healthy snack ideas to take with you on the go

Across the board, the one obstacle to healthy eating that I hear from my clients is that they don’t know what to eat for their mid-morning/mid-afternoon snack.  They are usually too busy to eat; they can’t carry around grocery bags of food with them everywhere they go; there are not healthy choices available in the vending machine, etc.  So, here is a list of low-calorie/high nutrition snack choices:

  1. Organic popcorn
  2. Nuts (almonds, cashews, peanuts, etc.  preferably plain – unroasted and without salt)
  3. Fruit
  4. Yogurt
  5. Homemade granola or low-fat granola bar
  6. Bars (Luna bars and Lara bars seem to both be healthy all-natural choices; try to find bars that are low sugar, under 200 calories, all-natural ingredients – i.e. no hydrogenated oil or high fructose corn syrup)
  7. Plain oatmeal with cinnamon & zero-calorie sweetener
  8. Rice cakes
  9. sunflower seeds
  10. single-serve apple sauce
  11. all-natural, multigrain cereal (Kashi is a good brand)
  12. whole wheat crackers with all natural peanut butter
  13. string cheese
  14. protein shake or meal-replacement shake (I like to use a whole foods meal replacement shake  (click on “store”, then “view all products”, and then scroll down until you see the “complete” shakes) because it’s low in calories and tastes REALLY good).

There… I hope this helps give you some creative ideas of things you can easily carry along with you to work to store in your desk drawer or in your purse.  Most of them don’t take too long to eat, either.  🙂

I am so proud of any person who has made a commitment to eating healthy, in particular, raw whole food. Monitoring a healthy lifestyle that includes daily exercise, loving relationships and superior nutrition is required for self health! I am an esophageal (stage 1) cancer survivor. Since 1990 I have been making superior eating choices and have had excellent biopsy check-ups and normal blood work. Recently I was introduced to and have become a distributor for raw whole food snack alternatives and meal replacements. This whole food promotes my lifetime changes that assure my ideal weight and enhance my health. I travel often and take along convenient milo bags of Phi Plus, Fruitalicious and Veggelicious. I am energized every step of my trips! This food supports grazing throughout the day which is better for our digestive systems and pancreas. Check out http://www.naturalresourcesdiet.com and become informed about recent nutritional research about raw whole food nutrition with opportunity to order. My phone number is available…call with ANY questions and we’ll journey together. See you in cyberspace. Yours in health, Linda Ann
